Healing Dentures
Healing Dentures are economy dentures that are placed the same day as extractions. The dentures need to fabricated before the extraction visit. Healing dentures are worn for three or four months while healing of the gums and jaw bone occur. There is very significant remodeling and shrinkage of the gums and jaws during this time. That is why we like to start making the final dentures after the healing has occurred, and we can have try-ins to make sure the appearance and bite relations are correct.
The decision about whether you should remove all of your remaining teeth is very important for your immediate and future wellbeing. Unfortunately, there is very little information available for the public about this topic. You are encouraged to look over the YouTube videos on our "What if I Remove All of My Teeth" page to gain an understanding of the way teeth distribute force to the jaw bones, and to be aware of dramatic changes when the teeth are removed.
You have probably heard the term "Teeth in a Day", which relates to several different dental procedures, including extractions, dentures, crowns, bridges, fillings, and implants. We never want to leave someone without teeth to smile and chew with, and we can accommodate the needs our patients in many ways. However, as a consumer advocate and oral health advocate, I ask you to beware of some claims that seem a little too good to be true. We are happy to host your for a complimentary consultation to discuss your needs and the sequence of visits that will enable the best result.
